Blind and curtain trends for 2024

As we enter a new year, there’s no better time to update your blinds and curtains than now, especially as trends start to emerge for 2024. If you’re looking for ways to refresh your home but are stuck for inspiration, have a look at some of our new favourite blind and curtain styles to help inspire your interiors.

Energy efficient blinds

Duette blinds are the market-leading energy-saving blinds, created with over 20 years of development to bring you the perfect combination of style and function. Duette’s unique honeycomb structure acts as an effective insulating barrier by trapping pockets of air and reducing heat loss from double-glazed windows by up to 55%. Just as this keeps your home cosy during the colder season, they also keep your home nice and cool in the summer by reducing heat intake by up to 78%. From subtle greys to warm tones these blinds are available in a range of made-to-measure designs with the option to go electric for those hard-to-reach areas like conservatory roofs. In addition to absorbing cool and hot air, these innovative blinds also absorb noise pollution so you can sleep peacefully without the disturbance of a busy road outside. If you’re after a peaceful lie-in, opt for blackout Duette blinds to help reduce light levels in your room. The tension fitted to the surrounding of the window paired with the specialist Mylor foil lining minimises light leaking around the blind so sunlight doesn’t creep in through the cracks. Another one of the many benefits of these blinds is their ability to provide you with privacy, especially if your house is overlooked or front-facing. Operate your blind from both the top and bottom for control over visibility. This clever design means you can move your blinds throughout the day to give you shading depending on the sun’s position.

Duette blinds

Here at Westcountry Blinds, we stock a range of shutters to suit every taste and budget. They are ultimately a great option for those looking to redress their windows with a more sustainable and energy efficient blind alternative. These include several ranges from one of our suppliers, S:CRAFT, who have been producing shutters for over 20 years. The first is the Antigua range; both elegant and hard-wearing, these shutters are coated with a UV inhibitor giving extra protection against scratching, chipping, staining and heat damage for the ultimate structural integrity. The Java range is also extremely strong, made from the same ABS that is used to create motorcycle helmets. These are ideal for high-humidity rooms such as bathrooms and kitchens, finished with stainless-steel hardware to minimise rusting and corrosion. The Fiji range is created from premium hardwood and is S:CRAFT’s most versatile range of hardwood shutters. The reduced weight makes them perfect for covering large window expanses and glass ceilings with less stress on fixtures and fittings. They can also be crafted into any shape so bay windows or half-covered bathroom privacy windows won’t miss out. With availability in over 30 colours, these beautiful blinds are completely customisable and will fit cohesively into your home.

Bold prints and patterns

We also have an extensive range of fabrics in a vast array of stunning colours, designs and patterns to create the blinds of your dreams, from the more traditional Damasks and Jacquards designs to plain lightweight sheers, organzas and 100% Panama cotton. Our latest fabrics include beautiful floral patterns, stunning Vintage designs with a modern twist and on-trend patterns in bold new colourways. We are proud to offer fabrics from a range of suppliers like Sanderson, who combine timeless British sensibility with hand-drawn patterns and bold interpretations from a historic archive. Alternatively, Kobe, a family-owned interior fabrics business, strikes the perfect balance between practicality and beauty, adding a quirky touch to design sentiment. These are just two of the fourteen fantastic suppliers we are pleased to offer at Westcountry Blinds.

Smart blinds for smart homes

Electric blinds from Somfy are the first step to making life at home more comfortable and convenient. By adding a touch of connectivity, light and heat intensity are optimised at all times. Whether you’re waking up or working from home, electric blinds open, adjust and close silently ensuring a perfect balance between natural and artificial light. They also respond to voice commands, with each blind opening and closing to the desired position. In turn, these offer a safer blind option for homes with pets or small children as they eliminate potentially hazardous chains or cords. Another benefit to smart blinds is their ability to manage the temperature of your home by automatically lowering as soon as the temperature exceeds a certain level. In winter, the blinds open automatically to let the sun in, which helps protect furniture and plants too. Similarly, at dusk these smart roller shades automatically lower and the lights turn on, protecting your privacy as you relax in your home each evening.
